Just because you’re a wildly successful entrepreneur doesn’t mean you don’t enjoy saving money sometimes just for the fun of it. My friend, Josh W., in Raleigh, NC (http://joshwhiton.com) founder and owner of Transloc, shared two of his favorite tips with me recently.
1. Buy ripe bananas at a discount. The grocery store marks them down when they get old. In true entrepreneurial form, Josh doesn’t see old bananas, he sees an opportunity! He takes the aging bananas home and immediately peels and freezes them. He enjoys them later for smoothies or as a delightful frozen treat. Josh even boasted that he once got about 35 bananas for $2.
2. Re-use your dental floss. When he said this, I immediately yelled “gross!”, but he came back with “you re-use your toothbrush, don’t you?” Well, he has a point there. Josh says he rinses his dental floss and re-uses it until it falls apart. And he does have very nice teeth, btw.
